The Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata Trisakti (STP Trisakti) was founded by The Trisakti Foundation. Formerly, the STP Trisakti was named as “Hotel and Tourism Academy” which later become Trisakti Academy of Tourism on 2nd June 1969 instigated by H. Mulyanto Sindhudarmoko, SE who was the Dean of Faculty of Economy of Trisakti. The location was at the Perhotelan Banteng Co. Ltd. Housing Complex, Jl. Kyai Tapa Grogol West Jakarta. The Trisakti Academy of Tourism has its first license and operated under “Registered Status” 1975. The license was issued by the Regional III Coordinator of Private Tertiary Institutions. In the same year, the academy awarded “The Best Academy” of Tourism in the Regional III area of jurisdiction.
Trisakti Academy of Tourism started to occupy its new campus in Bintaro which was officially opened by The Minister for Tourism, Post and Telecommunication, Soesilo Sudarman in 3 September 1988. Its status was increased as “Equal Accreditation” in 1989.
During the academy year of 1992-1993, Trisakti Academy of Tourism annexed its campus by extending the new building next to the previous one exactly on April 10, 1997.
In the academic year of 1998/1999 Trisakti Academy of Tourism changed its status become Trisakti Institute of Tourism and offering a Diploma IV program. This program shows the concern in anticipating the various development of tourism world particularly those regarding tourism services that at present are dominated by expatriates particularly at the middle and above management levels.
Awards
The academy was awarded as the ‘Best Academy of Tourism’ under the Regional III Coordinator of Private Tertiary Institution in Indonesia. Other awards are among others from The Governor of DKI Jakarta called the ‘Adikarya Wisata Award’ and ‘Adikarya Wisata National Award’ from Ministry of Tourism, Post and Telecommunication Republic of Indonesia, ‘Adikaryottama Wisata National Awards’ as a highest award appreciation for the implementation of the seven charms tourism campaign in the campus from DKI Jakarta Government.
